LA County Launches Office-Share Platform to Help Fire-Displaced Businesses

A Lifeline for Businesses Affected by Wildfires

The recent wildfires across Los Angeles County have left a trail of devastation, forcing many businesses to shut down or relocate. To help those affected, Los Angeles County has introduced a new office-sharing platform designed to connect displaced businesses with available office space.

This initiative, modeled after Airbnb’s business-to-business concept, allows companies with extra office space to offer it to those in need. Businesses can list their available office space, including location, capacity, and availability, while displaced businesses can browse and select a temporary workspace that fits their needs.

Helping Businesses Get Back on Their Feet

County officials have been in contact with business owners from various industries—including dental offices, hair salons, and small retailers—who have lost their workspaces due to the fires. The goal of the new platform is to ensure they can continue operations without significant disruptions.

The Palisades Fire, among others, has heavily impacted business districts, leaving many scrambling to find temporary locations. By leveraging community support, the office-share platform creates a collaborative solution that fosters resilience and economic recovery.

A Community-Driven Initiative

The concept was championed by Whittier Mayor Pro Tem Cathy Warner, who co-owns a periodontal practice in East Whittier with her husband. Since their office operates only three days a week, they are offering their space to displaced periodontists needing a temporary location. This act of generosity inspired the broader initiative.

s website is a reflection of the generosity of small business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals across the county who are eager to help,” said LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn, a key supporter of the platform. “If you have extra space, this is how you can make a difference.”

Additional Support for Small Businesses

Beyond the office-sharing platform, LA County has also established a relief fund to provide financial assistance to small businesses and employees affected by the fires. These combined efforts aim to support the economic recovery of businesses and workers who have suffered losses.

Moving Forward Together

This initiative highlights the power of community-driven solutions in times of crisis. By opening their doors to fellow business owners, LA’s small business community is demonstrating resilience and solidarity. As the county recovers, programs like this will play a crucial role in helping businesses rebuild and thrive once again.
